Schumann China, also known as Porzellanfabrik Carl Schumann, was established in 1881 in Arzberg, Bavaria, Germany. Here are some key points about its history:

Early History

  • Founding: The factory was founded by Christian Heinrich Schumann and businessman Franz Ferdinand Riess.
  • Name Change: In 1892, when Carl Schumann, the founder’s son, turned 21, the factory was renamed Porzellanfabrik Carl Schumann G.m.b.H. & Co. KG.

Growth and Expansion

  • Stock Company: In 1923, the factory became a stock company, known as Carl Schumann Porzellanfabrik AG.
  • Leadership: After Carl Schumann I passed away in 1926, his son Carl Schumann II took over. Carl III succeeded him in 1961.

Modern Era

  • Acquisition: In 1990, Wolfgang Schupli, co-owner of WMF and Hutschenreuther AG, took over the company.
  • Closure: Production ceased in 1994.
