Waterford Crystal has a fascinating history that dates back to 1783 when it was founded by brothers George and William Penrose in Waterford, Ireland. Here are some key points about its history:

- 1851: The original Waterford Glassworks closed due to financial difficulties.
- 1947: Czech glassmaker Karel Bacik revived the tradition by establishing a new glassmaking operation in Waterford.
- 1952: Miroslav Havel, Chief Designer, created the iconic Lismore pattern, which became a best-seller.
Modern Era
- 2009: The main manufacturing base closed due to insolvency, but production resumed in the city center.
- 2015: Waterford Crystal was acquired by the Fiskars Corporation.
